Isaiah prophesies centuries before Jesus is born, declaring that a Child will enter the world, but He will not be an ordinary child.
He will carry divine authority, be called by eternal names, and establish an everlasting kingdom of peace, justice, and righteousness.

• “A child is born” speaks of His humanity.

• “A son is given” speaks of His divinity.

This Child would carry the government on His shoulders and transform the world with His rule. His names reveal His nature:
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

1. The Promise of Salvation

• Israel was living in darkness, but God promised light.

2. The Identity of the Child (v. 6)

Each name reveals Jesus’ nature:

Wonderful Counselor

He gives direction with divine wisdom.

Mighty God

He carries the power of God Himself.

Everlasting Father

He cares for His people with eternal love.

Prince of Peace

He establishes peace between God and humanity.

Lesson: The One born in a manger is the Sovereign King of heaven.

3. The Kingdom of Peace and Justice (v. 7)

• His government will never end.

• His reign is marked by righteousness and justice.

• He fulfills God’s covenant promise to David.

Lesson: Earthly kingdoms rise and fall, but the Kingdom of Christ endures forever.
