In this passage, Jesus explains what will happen before the end, not to create fear, but to prepare His followers.

Jesus makes it clear:

1. Do Not Be Deceived (v. 4–5)

Jesus’ first warning is not about disaster — it is about deception.

“Watch out that no one deceives you.”

Many will claim to speak for God, but not all truth is truth from God.

👉 Lesson: In the last days, discernment is more important than excitement.

2. Trouble Does Not Mean Termination (v. 6–8)

Jesus speaks of wars, earthquakes, and famines, then says:

“See to it that you are not alarmed… the end is still to come.”

These are birth pains, not the conclusion.

👉 Lesson: Just because the world is shaking does not mean God has lost control.

3. Faith Will Be Tested (v. 9–13)

Jesus warns of persecution, betrayal, and increasing lawlessness.

• Many will fall away

• Love will grow cold

• Only those who endure to the end will be saved

👉 Lesson: The end times will reveal genuine faith, not comfortable faith.

4. The Gospel Is the Final Sign (v. 14)

Jesus ends with clarity:

“This gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world… and then the end will come.”

The focus is not panic — it is mission.
